Ghost IP, can't locate it
Hi All
We have a ghost IP. I can ping it, but I can't find it.
I've done the usual stuff.
show mac-address
not shown
ping ip
show arp
The IP is shown, but the port is empty??
I've looked through running-config without finding it.
What to do?
This is a stacked switch, four switches in a 2x2 failover.

Re: Ghost IP, can't locate it
These may sound like odd ideas, but in my environment (access points, credit card machines, voip phones) etc I try the following.
1. Try to open the ip in a browser
2. Try to ssh to the ip with putty or equiv.
3. Try to rdp/vnc to ip
4. Try mac/ip binding in your firewall and block it...see who squaks
5. Perhaps it's tied to a vlan
good luck
