Re: J4115A vs INTEL PRO 1000 Cannot establish link
First, I try to connect to any 100BaseT port. If this one failed, change cable, be sure not crossover cable.
If it works, look for the switch configuration port, speed, enable port, etc...
Regards
Jorge

Re: J4115A vs INTEL PRO 1000 Cannot establish link
Test the thing this way:
- Make sure you truly have the latest driver for the NIC
- Set both the NIC and the switch port to 1000FDx
- Connect the cable. Do you get a link led at all?
- If not, move the module to a different slot, configure to 1000FDx again and test again. Do you get link led?
- If not, try with another similar NIC, if possible. Do you get a link?
Then take a telnet or console connection to the switch, start to log the session, go to Main Menu > Diagnostics > Command prompt and give commands:
version
history
print browse
show port status
print log -a
Then save the session log and call the networking support.
Please note that with Win98/2K/XP you canNOT log a telnet session, so you must use hyperterminal instead. Or try out Tera Term Pro (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html).
HTH,
Arimo

Re: J4115A vs INTEL PRO 1000 Cannot establish link
J4115A connected to J4115A will link at 1000/Full, but you need a J4115B module to support any other Gig interfaces.
