Multicast on 2900
Can the HP 2900 forward Multicast traffic between VLAN's? We are using a 2900 as our core router and want to know if we can do multicast between our VLAN's
Thanks,
Matt

Matt

Re: Multicast on 2900
Hello,
This is not exactly an HP-UX related question,
but anyway...
I believe it can.
Did you read this document?
Cheers,

PS. I had to gzip it because ITRC rejects
attachments larger than 1 MB.

Re: Multicast on 2900
Matt,
To route Multicast traffic between VLANs requires PIM Dense or PIM Sparse mode.
The HP 2900 supports layer 2 IGMP multicast snooping, but not PIM routing.
You need a 5400 or 3500 switch with the premium license:

Cheers,
Manfred
