Hi, do you advise updating procurve software versions immediatley once a new version comes out even you are not encountering problems with yor switches?

Yes, I usually update right away. I usually start on one switch, and verify basic functionality (basically to see that it comes up after reboot and seems to work). After that I update all switches of the same model.
Even though we might not need the new features or whatever they include, there is usually a number of bugfixes included in the releases that might be valuable.

It is recommended practice to keep software versions up to date as manufacturers will usually ask you whether it is up to date first if you raise a support call with them, ie. they will ask you to update it first before performing any more troubleshooting.
Obviously you would need an implementation plan as well so you don't bring down your production network is there is an issue with the newer software.
