What are your favorite network monitoring/troubleshooting tools.

Hi folks!

A few days ago, a customer called and told me that he has network slowdowns and event deconnections. I've started to troubleshoot but had a really hard time to pinpoint the source. Even today, I'm not sure if what I found was the cause.

And surfing the web, I was wondering what is the ultimate network monitoring/troubleshooting tools available. I use WireShark a lot, Look@lan, puTTY but what are yours? Are you using NTOP, Zabbix or any network probe?

WhatsUp Gold can do a lot.
but if your network grows a single tool is not sufficient, you need a set (or suite).

maybe netqos can be something for you. http://www.netqos.com/

I don't use this myself, but been at a presentation wich looked promising.

I've used cacti for quite some time to graph bandwidth on each port. It is especially useful to see bandwidth over time. I also use a plugin for cacti called MacTracker. This has been invaluable for finding any mac address and which switch port it is plugged into.
