2848 J4904A showed password reset which was not done
Hello,
We have a Procurve J4904A 2848 that is heavily used for switching and routing. Running the latest available software 10.77. I found that the password had been cleared. Looking at the logs it showed:
I 08/27/11 00:05:28 mgr: password(s) removed via clear button
However, the switch is in an alarmed building behind a combination locked door, and there was nobody in the buliding at the time (verified by access logs). So I think there was some kind of bug that triggered this action.
Has anyone else ever seen this behavior?

I can guarantee that nobody was in the buliding at this time via badge access logs. There are only 5 people who have access to the wiring closet in question and they have all confirmed they were not there.

Re: 2848 J4904A showed password reset which was not done
Just discovered the same issue on our 2848. It's been doing it for months, but we only now investigated and noticed the log entry.
I'm guessing it's a stuck button (microswitch) on the switch's motherboard. Hoping that pressing it a few times will exercise it enough to clear the issue (no pun intended). If not, we may have to replace the switch for security purposes.
