sendmail anti-spam question

This should be an easy one. I'm running 8.8.6 and using the anti-spam files. Are wildcards supported? e.g. will "*@anyplace.com" work with the check_mail or check_compat rule sets. I've tried it and I can't make it work, but I can't find documentation that verifies it.

Thanks,
I'd rather be on my boat...

Re: sendmail anti-spam question

You should create a file called /etc/mail/SpamDomains and add the domain to the file.

As long as you have everything uncommented from # BEGIN anti-spamming and # END anti-spamming, it should work.

Re: sendmail anti-spam question

You should consider upgrading to at least 8.9.3 on sendmail. This release has proven quite stable for me in terms of runtime and undesirable mail rejection.

Re: sendmail anti-spam question

Upgrade to 8.9 or upwards.
UNti-spamming is addressed here with ease, just add domain/email address/network in the access file in your default mail directory. You can specify if you want to reject/relay/return or whatever. Very easy and worth upgrading for.

Re: sendmail anti-spam question

I too would recommend 8.9.3. I have been running 3 Inet mail servers with 8.9.3 since I could get it (almost a year ago), and it has many features for anti-spam.

Basically, You create a file (mine is access.txt). In the file you can define hosts, domains and id@host in the first field. Next field is the status of the host, etc... as OK or REJECT, but there are many more options.

Next use makedbm to make the database. In my case, access and put the rule into sendmail.cf
Kaccess dbm -o /etc/mail/access

You can try the K macro in your version, but I am not sure that it would work. If not, from experience sendmail 8.9.3 is well worth the upgrade!
