HPE GreenLake announces new enhancements to the platform

A hybrid cloud approach to IT is now standard for most organizations. Some approaches to hybrid IT are more streamlined than others. HPE GreenLake cloud simplifies hybrid cloud for organizations by providing a single cloud operating experience delivered through a platform that is hybrid by design. It is AIOps-driven, API-first, and expandable delivering a unified experience to multiple teams, including ITOps, DevOps, FinOps, and GreenOps. Our cloud platform provides many foundational services underpinning cloud services with a single control plane, enabling IT agility, operational simplicity, and security and control for customers’ hybrid cloud needs in this AI era. The platform is characterized by multivendor support, intelligent infrastructure management, integrated security, and sustainability to align seamlessly with a cloud operating model supporting enterprise SLAs.

• HPE Sustainability Insight Center – adding numerous new features and capabilities to provide IT energy and emission visibility in hybrid environments
• GenAI-based platform search – GPT4-based platform search, available across the platform, to streamline users’ steps to accomplishing a task

Let’s take a closer look at each of these new features.

The HPE Sustainability Insight Center team is excited to announce several new features and enhancements:

• Public Cloud Carbon Emission Tracking: Starting with AWS, customers can now view and report on public cloud carbon emissions in a unified device summary table, with additional providers to be added soon. This helps customers gain comprehensive insights into their cloud carbon footprint for smarter, more sustainable decisions. (Note: requires OpsRamp license.)
• Device-Level Energy Anomaly Detection: We’re introducing support for anomaly detection in energy consumption for compute devices, providing real-time insights into device energy usage. This empowers organizations to achieve cost savings, improve operational efficiency, and make more sustainable IT decisions.
• Expanded Data Residency Support: To address data sovereignty requirements, we now support a new region, EU West (UK). This allows UK-based clients to track power consumption and carbon emissions without transferring data outside of the UK, ensuring compliance with data sovereignty needs. Region support includes – EU Central, EU West, AP Northeast, and US West.
• Global Currency Support: Customers can now select from 30 global currencies within the Sustainability Insight Center, enabling them to view financial data in their preferred format. This improves ease of use by customizing currency settings at the workspace level, making financial reporting more flexible and localized.
• Custom Tagging and Device Groups: With custom tags and device grouping, you are now able to create tailored filters based on specific device groups, application types, or business use cases. This results in a more personalized and efficient user experience, enabling better data management and analysis.

In-App Contextual Help: Our new contextual help feature provides immediate, relevant assistance based on where you are in the application. This reduces the time to find answers and enhances the overall user experience by supporting quick problem-solving.

These new features will be available in mid-December 2024 and will enhance users' ability to manage, optimize, and achieve sustainable IT in a smarter, more informed way.

The hybrid cloud platform team will release the GenAI platform search feature for general availability in January 2025:

• Comprehensive search - search fields have been added to the top of every window in the platform’s user interface offering a GenAI-powered search of HPE GreenLake documentation and key resources—devices, subscriptions, and users—in the current workspace.
• Shorter path to results:  When searching for how to perform a task, a user receives not just a list of links to documentation articles but a summary of required steps directly in the results pane, and even hyperlinks to take them directly to the places where they perform those steps.
• Quickly go to a specific resource:  Search for devices, subscriptions, or users in your workspace. Key attributes in the results list will help you choose one to work with. Then you can jump to the detailed view of that resource to manage it.

The HPE platform team is developing a hybrid IT asset and workload visibility tool to provide aggregated metrics such as cost, business risk, performance, and CO2 output at the workload level. This will enable organizations to make informed decisions on where to run their workloads and how to optimize along dimensions such as cost, risk, performance, and CO2. Users will be presented with recommendations for the most optimized ways to run their IT workloads.  Stay tuned, you will be hearing more about this exciting program.
