Maximizing the impact of IT investments with a cloud services approach: A CFO’s guide
HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform offers a compelling range of benefits that will appeal to finance leaders. This new playbook explains how the cloud services strategy works.
From finance leaders’ point of view, the world of IT provisioning offers a dizzying, ever-evolving array of options. CFOs are long familiar with equipment leasing and traditional, capital-intensive purchasing models, and they’re increasingly aware of the potential advantages of subscription models and the public cloud. But they’re less familiar with the cloud services approach that’s currently making huge inroads in the marketplace, and which fits IT organizations’ “hybrid cloud” ambitions (another unfamiliar term for finance folks!) like a glove. Yet of all the options out there, this is perhaps the most compelling for companies that want to precisely calibrate their IT investments while maximizing business outcomes.
To help finance pros understand how the cloud services strategy works, we’ve created this new resource: A CFO’s Guide: Making the Financial Case for On-Premises Cloud. The Guide explores the new landscape of technology investments. It introduces the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform, which delivers on-premises, managed infrastructure in a pay-per-use model. HPE retains ownership of the infrastructure, and with our metering technologies you pay only for the capacity – compute, storage, networking and software – that you actually use, above a minimum capacity. (See: What is HPE GreenLake?)
The HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform unlocks the economic potential of your data assets, wherever they reside. That could be in the data center, or in colocation facilities. Or it could be at the “edge” – the places where data is generated, such as retail sales points, the factory floor, or branch offices. (Read more about edge computing.)
Take a look at the CFO’s Guide to learn how HPE GreenLake cloud services enable you to:
- Avoid the inefficiencies of over-provisioning (for example, poor utilization of IT gear and an enlarged energy footprint) and the risks of under-provisioning (interruption of business processes and procurement delays).
- Balance IT, business and financing needs by delivering the scalability and pay-as-you-go benefits associated with public cloud, but without the high storage and egress costs – and with all the security and performance of your own environment.
- Leverage equipment buyback and recycling programs to maximize the lifetime value of your investments and enhance sustainability.
- Improve budgeting and forecasting with HPE GreenLake Central, an intuitive software platform that tracks capacity and usage, provides cost and compliance insights, and simplifies management of the entire hybrid cloud estate.
There’s a lot more in the Guide than I can cover here – for example, there’s a handy list of questions to ask as you start to explore the on-premises cloud approach, and some tips on getting started and determining next steps. It’s a great intro to a kind of IT/Finance that you might not have considered. Definitely worth your time.
