Use of Special Characters

In general, use of special characters like @ # % ^ & * + | / = \ is fine for posts and replies, and for comments on blogs, but there are a few places that they can have unexpected results. In your profile, some of the fields under the heading "Personal Information" are displayed on other pages, depending upon the security settings for the pages. If you decide to use a biography or signature on your posts, special characters may be converted over to HTML equivalents, and some browser settings will not render them correctly. WIth this in mind, we recommend that you not use special characters in your personal profile information fields.
