multicast over GRE
Bonjour,
A customer running Procurve 5400 (firmware 15.07.0008) at two location is trying to have multicast traffic going over a GRE tunnel and it’s a nogo for the moment! Is there a document that could help me out on how to configure the 2 Procurve 5400?
Tks for your input,
yanic

Re: multicast over GRE
Hi,
Which devices are handling the GRE tunnel between the 2 sites ? I was not aware that the procurve switches could do such thing.
If it is done by some other device, you will have to configure some multicast routing protocol (PIM SM probably, requires premium license on older 5400 boxes) to handle the IP multicast over the connection.
If possible I would recommend using the A series (router or switch) for these kind of links, they have a more solid routing feature set compared to the ProCurve line,
best regards,Peter

Re: multicast over GRE
Yes, in my opinion procurve switches dont support tunneling. Use comware based switches.
