Hi,
I need help configuring a HP Aruba 3810M JL076A. I am trying to configure layer 3 interfaces on the switch but I am no sure how to do it. I have searched on the net for technical documentation but I was unable to find anything. Can someone please explain to me how to configure this switch or provide me the documentation to do so?
Thanks!

SolutionHello,
Try here
Routing & Multicast guide should be the one (if I remember correctly)
That switch is fairly new but it configures just the same as any other high end Procurve since the 5400zl some 8 years since.
1) create a VLAN (vlan 10 )
2) Add an IP address and mask to it (ip address <address> <mask> )
3) create another vlan (vlan 20 )
4) Add an IP and mask to that one (as above)
5) Enable routing if you want to use the Layer 3 featureset (ip routing - I think)
Give that a spin. If you don't fancy the CLI there is a web interface and there might even still be a text based menu although I haven't seen that used in years.
Thanks
Ian

Re: Need assistance configuring a HP Aruba Switch
Thanks Ian, I was able to get the interface up and assign an ip to it.
I have another question and would like to know if you are able to help me. I have the Aruba connected to a Juniper SRX210 Router and I'm trying to configure BGP between the two devices but it won't establish. Is there a special command I need to deploy for compatilibility with BGP on Juniper devices on the Aruba? I checked the manual and wasn't able to find anything.

Re: Need assistance configuring a HP Aruba Switch
Hello,
Could you cut and paste the relevant bit of the config file for us to have a look at? Please XXXX out any bits that you don't want us to see. Also a very rough topology diagram will make things clear and you might even have your own lightbulb moment while you are drawing it out.
Have you had a look at the HPE / Aruba / cisco inter-op guide which has loads of little "how-to's" and is esp good if you already know how to do it in IOS.
Have a look here - p436 ish for your BGP stuff.
I had OSPF working in about 5 minutes with loopback interfaces and IP addresses so BGP shouldn't be much more but the nodes do need to be able to see each other first to build the TCP session to exchange routes over.
Can the 2 nodes ping each other - are you using loopbacks - is it eBGP - have you increased the multihop count - what "stage" of peering are the nodes at - etc.
Remember that this is "classic" BGP for IPv4 route exchanges none of your fancy multi-protocol BGP supporting multiple NRLI here (you need Comware or Arista for that).
thanks
Ian
