Re: Firmware OfficeConnect 1950 JG960A

Good Morning

I checked that there are several files in the compressed file (* .bin, * .ipe ...) and a folder with .xsd files which one would be correct? Is there any step by step to help?

Thank you

Check the User Guide here - https://internal.support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=c04657809
and
Release Notes - https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=a00072270en_us

You need to use .IPE file for the update. There are several ways to update the software on these switches:

1. CLI. Page 151 of the User Guide explains 'update' command and how to use it. From several examples listed you need the one utilizing IPE file - " upgrade { tftp-server | ipv6 ipv6-tftp-server } runtime file ipe-filename". Also, an upgrade example can be found in the release notes, page 53. If you don't have a TFTP server in your network, you can use TFTPD32 software to run such on your PC. Keep in mind that you need to open inbound UDP port 69 in your PC's firewall.

2. GUI. Due to a reason unknown to me this procedure is not documented in the User Guide. However, it is pretty simple. Just login to the GUI, go to Device -> Upgrade, click on Upgrade button. Choose IPE file, click Apply and proceed following instructions provided by the GUI. Just a note from my side - sometimes Web GUI stucks on "Uploading file..." stage, that is why I personally never use GUI for upgrades and prefer CLI option.

3. Boot menu (Bootrom) recovery mode. This one should be used as a last resort option when Comware image on the flash is either damaged or deleted. More details you can find in the release notes, page 54.

Hope this helps!
