App Event log errors

W2K3 Server, Active Directory, one domain.

Every 15 minutes, I keep getting a Source: SceSrv, EventID: 1205 error with Policy processing of notifications of policy change form LSA/SAM has been dealy because of low disk space. Please free space above 5MB...

I have 550MB in this volume.

Will anyone help? Thank you.

Re: App Event log errors

Is this the same volume as your pagefile? I have seen similar instances when the volume is utilized as a paging file as well. Since PF's are dynamic in size and nature it is possible to fill the volume with PF activity.

Re: App Event log errors

Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure if PF is using the same volume, more than likely it is. How do I check this?

If PF is the culprit, how do I correct the message?

Thanks.

http://www.petri.co.il/pagefile_optimization.htm

The above URL is a good resource on PageFiles.

If you need to determine the location of the Page file right click the my computer > click the Advanced tab > In the performance area select settings > click the Advanced tab > Under virtual memory select the Change button.

This will show you where the current Page file is located.

Re: App Event log errors

Here's my numbers:

C:\ 16GB total
pagefile is on C:\

Total Physical Memory 2 GB
Available Physical Memory 1.51 GB
Total Virtual Memory 3.35 GB
Available Virtual Memory 3.03 GB
Pagefile Space 1.50 GB

How am I doing with my pagefile? I read the link and all these numbers are confusing.

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: App Event log errors

Already increased pagefile, but no joy. I'm still getting warning messages every 15 minutes.

Leahi:

How much free space exists on the C: drive? 550MB, is that right? If so, and it's a 16GB C: drive, you're living on the edge.

You should make the swap/paging file smaller, rather than larger, to try to make the error message go away. Can you move the swap file to another physical (or logical) volume?

Make a great day!
