DL380 Win2k3 - Harddisk Inquiry

Dear All,

the HP Engineer already completed our new HP server installation.

the server hdd are 36GBx2 and 146GBx4. the first 2 hdd configured as Raid-1 and the remaining 4 hdd configured as Raid-5.

after the HP engineer left my office, i found out that the Raid-5 hdd already formatted with single partition. i need this raid-5 hdd to have multiple partitions.

How do i accomplish that?

Thank you in advance.

Re: DL380 Win2k3 - Harddisk Inquiry

Go to Start > Programs > HP System Tools > Array Configuration Utility.
In ACU, click your controller on the left (smart array xxx). Then choose your second array, (the biggest array, raid 5). You'll see one logical disk. If you don't have any data on that disk you can delete the logical disk, and then create a new logical disk. When you create the disk you can choose the size on the right. Using this method you can create multiple disks. save settings.

In windows 2k3, right click My Computer, choose 'manage', choose disk management. Each created logical disk should shows up as a separate hard drive for windows. You can then create a primary partition on each one and give it a drive letter.
