OK, I have a DL580 and I am trying to install Windows 2003 X64 edition. I have updated the bios and all firmware to the latest edition. I have 8 gigs of ram and 4 Xeon 2 Ghz processors installed. When I use the latest version of smart start it will not give me the option for the 64 bit version of Windows 2003 server. It states that the server is not compatable. Every where I look and read tells me that it should be compatable. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks
Brian

Solution
Hi,
You don't say which generation DL580 you're trying to use, however as you said 2GHz processors I'm guessing its a G2.
The Xeons in that server are not 64bit, hence why you can't load the 64bit version of 2003.
See the Quickspecs for the server here:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11372_na/11372_na.html
and the details of the processors here:
http://www.intel.com/support/processors/xeon/sb/cs-007758.htm#Software
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: DL580
Yes it is a Gen 2, and thanks as that solves that problem. I appreciate it.
