dns namespacing for nt/2003 upgrade
I am looking at upgrading our nt environment to 2003, everything's straight forward apart from the dns section, where I'm getting a little confused.
our domain is called "stealth" and "continent" respectively for 2 different sites on NT, with dns records structured this way:
sky.com - parent
stealth.sky.com - delegated zone
continet.sky.com- secondary delegated zone.
now in migrating to 2003, I was hoping to use the following setup:
stealth.com as domain name with host record in "stealth.sky.com"
and
continent.com as domain name with host record in "continet.sky.com"
and creating a trust between the two.
Now would it matter if the I named the new 2003 domain stealth.com even though the NT is also called "stealth" only?
secondly, can you pretty much name it anythin you want?
Thanks...

Re: dns namespacing for nt/2003 upgrade
this seems to be about 2003 dns. I'm okay with dns and how it works.
Its just the NT migration stuff that I'm looking at.
What I'm trying to figure out is:
if my NT4 network is stealth (Netbios name) and I migrate to win2003 and give it a name of stealth.com (dns name), will that confuse the system?
I could name it a lot of other things, but I want to stick with our domain name so that's what I'm not so clear about.
I tried this on a testbed and it worked with a few problems. I Want to be able to determin e that these problems are not as a result of naming the dns and netbios name the same.
is that a bit clearer?
Thanks.
