Hosting multiple SNMP monitoring tool on a server

I would like to build a management server to monitor the production environment. The server will host multiple monitoring tools that's listen to SNMP trap from respective hardware devices. All the monitoring tools are listen to the SNMP trap port, ie port 162.

For example:
tool A monitor device a
tool B monitor device b

Is this a workable solution ?

I assume, depend what tools you take, from management Console you can set clients, filters ... ets divide by system groups.

Re: Hosting multiple SNMP monitoring tool on a server

I don't know much about windows system. If the SNMP service is started. With montoring tool, such as netiq agent and MOM agent installed, both tools are listening at the SNMP trap port 162.

In the event one of the device monitor send an SNMP trap, which agents will captured the trap, netiq or MOM ?

There's a free tool called MRTG.
If you want to monitor SQL and Exchange performance counters, install SNMP PRIOR to installing the Apps; otherwise monitor won't work.
