NC-Series Server Adapter Update 3.0.7.0 Fails

Installing new ML-350 G5 server with Server 2003 R2 x64 SP2.

The HP NC-Series Multifunction network adapter driver version 2.8.13.0 installed without a problem.

Tried to launch HP Network Configuration Utility and get a message that the miniport driver(s) version for the NC373i adapter are not compatible (BXND52A.sys 2.8.13.0 < 3.0.5.0).

Tried to install the 3.0.7.0 drivers from cp007291.exe file. Get the following error:

The installation procedure did not complete successfully. An error occurred during the setup process.

Additional Information:
Not all of the files required for installation were installed.

The log file does not provide any other information about the problem and I have no other information available to debug the failure.

Any suggestions on how to update the NC373i drivers to 3.0.7.0?

Hi Barry,
Extract the files from the softpack with winrar (can be downloaded at www.download.com)

Then install driver from devicemanager instead of the setup.

Have a nice day,

Thanks for the idea. Just needed to extract the files from multifunction NIC file and use the device manager driver update to get the right version.

Any servers where we see this issue can be updated manually only via device manager. In fact every update after that you have to keep using device manager, and the cpnnnnnn.exe file will always fail. Anyone have any ideas?
