NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
I have a Compaq ML370 server that we are doing a fresh install of 2003 Server. During the install of 2003 the server is Blue Screening with the following error:
*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
*** The system has halted ***
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
I have updated the ROM to the most current but no change. I have heard mention to disabling ECC in the BIOS....but I do not see the option for this
Any thoughts??

Re: NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
make sure your BIOS setup has ECC, memory checking, & parity checking are set to off.

Re: NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
go thru this url, discussing about this same error with different machine, analyzing this error from various point of view, looks like this is mostly discussed issues. As you got this error during installation, it looks more critical, better you can contact HP on this. Sometime they will even if we don't have support contract.

Re: NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
Hopefully F9 or F10 work to enter into BIOS.

Re: NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
Once you boot, you can look into BIOS by start--->run--->msinfo32 (if you have 2000 or 2003 OS)

Re: NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
You either have a false positive for bad memory or you have bad memory.
but
Bad memory is usually caught at POST (Power-On-Start-Test), way before you get to Windows. You can check the memory with a memory checker to confirm all is okay. You can find one here:
http://www.memtest86.com/
I've used this program in the past and it has worked well for me.
If the memory test shows the memory is okay, you may be experiencing a problems with the Win2003 installer itself. You wouldn't be the only person.
Once solution has been to slipstream SP1 into the Win2003 CD. Basically, slipstreaming allows you to create a bootable Win2003SP1 CD which should hopefully fix the problem.
You can find slipsteaming posted on the ITRC forums here (I posted instructions once) and I also found a good link outside the forum with instructions on slipstreaming for 2003:
http://www.petri.co.il/windows_2003_sp1_slipstreaming.htm
You can also do a google search for slipstreaming. It used to be quite a challenge but MS has now made the process much easier.
If the link doesn't work, let us know and a repost can be done. Let the forum know how it goes and good luck.
