ntbackup hangs to "preparing to backup using shadow copy"

This problem started yesterday after running Windows Update. Several hits on Google, but nothing helpful:

When attempting to backup receive the following errors:

1) event id #1229; Source: VSS
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error on creating/using the COM+ Writers publisher interface: IVssWriter::RequestWriterInfo, GatherWriterMetadata [0x80040208].

2) event id # 4616; Source: EventSystem
The COM+ Event System caught an access violation at address 0x0045A84D within method PrepareToFire of interface {465E5CC1-7B26-11D1-88FB-0080C7D771BF}. The method attempted to access address 0x0000008C.

Then the backup fails. I tried to run a backup without using shadow copy - the selection is greyed out in advanced options.

Hello whitch state have the VSS Service???
It should be started manualy and in default state down.
With whitch account was the Service loged on??? Volumeroot ACL´s shoult have insertet the Account "System" with "full access".

After a couple more reboots the problem disappeared.
