Service lost....

Hi All,

Long day, I was setting the permissions for users to start/stop a service. In the process removed everyone from the permissions, and now the servce does not appear in the services.msc.

Does anyone know how to restoare permissions so that I can see the service again?

What is the name of the service ? or what is suppose to be?

It is the servie shown in the service tab of the msconfig application.

Start > Run > msconfig

Hi Marco,

Its the service for SQL Service Analysis, its (SQL2005) its not showing up in msconfig, the service is still running, msmdsrv.exe. just can't see it net start also says access denied.

and what about the reedit at..:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\service name

It is the service right there? ...

Have you rebooted the server since you have the problem?

Yes the service is there it all looks the same as the Disaster ecovery box.

Marco, thanks for your time. Managed to get it back. Copied the key over from the previous control set and bounced the box...
