Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
I have installed windows 2003 server on IBM x345. It has 2 73GB hard drives. But the Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,

Re: Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
Could you able to see the IInd disk in the Disk Management?
I am not sure whether you have partitioned the IInd disk. If it appeared as unallocated space, you can partition it.

Re: Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
According to http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=2559453&storeId=1&catalogId=-840&langId=-1 the x345 has an integrated RAID-1 controller.
Most probably RAID-1 is activated and your disks are being mirrored, so it's perfectly fine you only see one disk.
If you have not installed the IBM ServeRAID utility, download it now and install. Then, for the RAID configuration. You will need to reboot your server after you install the ServeRAID utility.

Re: Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
I donot want mirroring to happen. Instead I want to use the 2nd hard disk for data storage.
Is there a way to disable mirroring and use the 2nd hard disk for data storage?
Please suggest.

Re: Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
Found a great link for the x-series servers over at IBM. Maybe one of their experts can give you a hand:

Re: Operating system is recognizing only one hard disk.
Your server is able to perform RAID-1 (mirroring disks) and RAID-0 (no mirroring, you'll have both disks avaible to store data).
The problem is you will need to reinstall the operating system when you disable RAID-1. Boths hard disks will be reformatted.
