Partition C Image with Norton Ghost
Hi all guys,
I have two identical hp machines run win 2k3(without any active directory data, pure windows). To save time, I installed the first, udated it, customized it and then have taken an image of Part. C with Norton Ghost and applied this image to the other machine. Ok, it works well. But due to partion table data file(s) are not the same in two machines, I can't see the other Partitions in the second machine from Win (but I saw them from some disk partions programs).
>>> The question is I need a tool or program to run on this machine to rewrite partition table data again to part C with new OS.
All replies will be highly appreciated.
thanks in advance.
Tamer.

Re: Partition C Image with Norton Ghost
Hello
Ghost mainly has been designed for Workstations but it works sometimes with Windows Member Servers depending on SCSI issues.
However, since you successded to clone the image and your problem is only Partitioning, then use Power Quest 'Partition Magic'
Or create a master image again and specify the number of partitions.
Why not using RIS built in with Windows 2003, it supports win2k3.
Hope this help

Re: Partition C Image with Norton Ghost
Thanks for your replay.
you are right, I need Partition Magic. but the problem is that it doesn't support win 2k3 or NT. I forgot to mention that in my thread. are you know a version of it, or any other similar program supports win 2k3.

Re: Partition C Image with Norton Ghost
Hello Tamer,
Unfortunately, Partition Magic doesn't support Win2k3. However, you may use a free utility from Microsoft called fsextend.exe utility in order to extend the partition.
Diskpart.exe for Windows 2000.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/new/diskpart-o.asp
Meanwhile, if you want to know what NTFS version you have, run this command at the command prompt:
fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo c:
check the version number. I think Partition magic doesn't support NTFS V3.1
Hope this help
