Proliant 1850R
I am rebuilding a 1850R with 2003 Server. According to the documentation for the 1850R there is only support for NT 3.51 Ent, NT 4.0, and NT 4.0 Ent Operating Systems. Is there any reason why 2003 would not work on this box? What caveats should I be aware of going into this installation process? The box does meet all minimum system requirements for 2003 server.
Thanks for any input,
Alan

Re: Proliant 1850R
Hi Alan:
I'm not aware of any specific problems. Typically, Windows 2000 drivers, etc work fairly well on Windows 2003. http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1115.html
Install the latest BIOS before beginning to improve the odds of success. Install latest PSP at the appropriate time and if there are any flagged items in Device Manager, post them here and we'll try to resolve them.
The Proliant forum people may have some specific ideas/recommendations.
Make a great day!
Roger

Re: Proliant 1850R
Hi Roger,
Thanks for your input. I figured that was the case, but wanted to hear someone other than myself say it! Anyway, I was able to get approval to procure a new box as part of a new hardware refresh intiative. So I will not be going forward with the install. Again, thanks for your opinion and taking the time to help out.
