Prolient 150 ml gets a cannot start ntldr after power failure

My client's new, less than a year old, Prolient 150 ML will not start when they have a general power failure in the building. It only gets to NTLDR cannot start. Sometimes it starts back up after a few tries, sometimes I make it start by putting in the 2003 standard disk without letting it go through the whole windows repair. This is obviously not acceptable. There is a battery backup but so far that hasn't helped. Any ideas of what is going on here and what to do?

Hi,

This should be problem with the HDD, where the OS is loaded. I had faced this problem many times in my carrier. All that you need to do it move out the OS from the current boot disk to an another one. There won't be any badsectors shown in this disk. Just replace the disk

Hi Sunil,
So you are saying I should just switch out the drive with the mirrored drive currently in the system?

Hi,

First of all let me understand, wether the mirroed disk you are talking about, is the boot disk or the data disk. I hope u are not using any kind of raid in the system, atleast for os disk.

If you have a mirrored boot disk( I mean OS disk), your life has become easy. You need to just take a reboot of the system. Go to the SCSI BIOS, set the boot disk as the mirroed os disk., ie is the one which is not having problem. Once the OS is booted, just do take shutdown two or three times are verify.
More over here, now u have to take a risk of powering off the box abnormally. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOU THIS AT THIS MOMMENT. Replace the defective HDD, mirror it.

Sunil

Yes, it is a mirrored boot disk. I will try what you suggest. Thanks a lot for your help.
