Rights question
Hi there,
We have a win2003 Standard server with a Public folder where Authenticated users and Administrators have full control also replicated on child objects.
Now if an authenticated user creates a folder in the Public, no rights are copied from the parent folder so nobody can access the context of the folder.(I have to manualy give rights to the new folder) If users create files in the Public the rights are copied perfectly.
There are no policies applied on the server
In Windows 2000 this was never a problem, so if someone has an solution for this,
Regards,
Ronald

Re: Rights question
By public folder, are you refering to simply a standard share, or a DFS share, or an open area browseable through your web site???
If you're referring to a standard share, use the following article to double-check that you've set everything up right.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323420&Product=winsvr2003

Re: Rights question
Hi
My boss set me on antohter project for a coupel of days, now that it is finished I can sink my teeth into this one again.
It is a standard share on the Domain Controller, Just made the chare availebel and gave the authenticated users (AU) full controll and the group administrators full controll, If au user makes a folder the right of the administrator are copied to the new folder, but of the rights of the AU-group are not copied.
The client has server offices in different cities, they all have the same problem.
Now I also added the group Users, and gave them full controll and let it be applyed on all child objects.
Now the strange thing is, that the AU-group has full controll in the Public folder, but on all subfolders the rights are gone.
This did not happen to the Users-group all rights are perfectly copied to all subfolders. I did not receive any complains that persons can not enter the the context of the folders, so lets see if users that create folders still have the problem.
But does anyone know how the AU-group lost it right settings?
Regards,
Ronald
