rx2600 installing Windows 2003

I have an rx2600 with HP-UX on it and would like to install windows 2003 on one of the disks. I have Smart Setup CD 3.0 and A Microsoft Evaluation DVD That Reads [Contents *Windows Server 2003 180-day Evaluations(Standard,Enterprise, 64-bit Enterprise,Web);WSRM;more *Windows XP Professional 120-day Evaluation *Office XP Professional 30-day Trial *Exchange Server 2003 Evaluations (Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition) *Systems Management Server 2.0 SP 2 Evaluation *SQL Server 2000 Evaluation Edition Release A *SharePoint Portal Server Evaluation *Host Integration Server 2000 Evaluation *ISA Server 2000 Enterprise Ediion Trial Product Key:***-******* *plus additional evaluations ] I would like to install Windows 2003 180-day Evaluation 64-bit Enterprise. Steps I tried: 1.) I added the DVD as a boot option in the EFI Boot Manager. 2.) I booted of the Smart Setup CD 3.0. 3.) I used the Express Setup Process to create ESP, HPSP and MSR partitions.4.) when the Express Setup askes for the windows 2003 Server Edition I place the Evaluation DVD (the one described above)in the DVD drive and press OK. At this point I get "unexpected trap" message the indicator ligth starts flashing red and the system locks up.

That means it doesn't support DVD for installation. Copy win2003 folder into separate CD and try.

It sounds to me like you have a Technet DVD. There's possibly 2 different versions of the OS on the DVD. The first (vanilla) version requires that you copy the files & folders to a CD, boot up your existing OS, then run setup.exe from the CD. The second version that could be on the DVD is an ISO image. You can use a third party CD writing tool (like Roxio EasyCD creator or Nero) to write the ISO image to the CD to make a bootable CD, in which case to install, you would shutdown your machine, put the CD in the drive, then boot up.

Good luck,

Gary
