Sound card driver for Windows Server 2003

I installed Windows Server 2003 on an old Vectra XU 6/200 machine. Every works fine except the audio device. According to HP's document, the machine has an integrated Creative Labs Soundblaster 16 CT2504 sound card. However, I am not able to find the driver on HP, Creative, Microsoft sites. Can anybody tell me if there is a compatable driver I can use?

Don't know about 2003 but 2000 contains one. If you do an Add Hardware and then select from a list of Sound Video and Game Controllers then choose Creative Labs you get one for Soundblaster 16 and friends.

It appears to use the wmda_ctl.inf found in Winnt\inf.

";; All the Creative Sound Blaster 16/AWE32 PnP IDs, except CTL0043
[WDM_SB16]
Include=ks.inf, wdmaudio.inf
Needs=KS.Registration, WDMAUDIO.Registration
CopyFiles=CTLSB16.CopyList
AddReg=WDM_SB16.AddReg"

I'm surprised it didn't detect it automatically. Did you check to see if maybe the Sound is turned off in the BIOS?

Re: Sound card driver for Windows Server 2003

I did turn the sound off in BIOS during 2003 setup since it hung at "Setup is starting Windows". After successfully installed 2003, I re-enable it in BIOS. 2003 device manager detects there is an Audio Device, but without a driver installed. I tried to install it manually, but there are only 3 drivers listed under Sound & Multimedia/Creative, and Soundblaster 16 is not one of them.
