USB-printers refuse to install on ML115
I have 2 usb printers (Deskjet 5550 and DymoLabelwriter) that refuse to install on my server. Have tried both with both the original cd and the latest download.
For the Deskjet: double clicking setup.exe only produces two faint beeps. Installing the printer with the 'havedisk' option works but the printer remains a yellow question mark in my hardware overview, and gives an error with a testpage.
The Dymo gives similar experiences (asks for the insertion of a cable when this is already done, and also shows a yellow question mark).
It may have to do with the fact that the havedisk option only shows lpt-ports, not usb ports.
Help would be very much appreciated.

Re: USB-printers refuse to install on ML115
Hi Theo,
What operating system is installed on the server and is that operating system supported on the install cd's for the Deskjet 5550 and label printers?
If you concentrate on the Deskjet 5550 - It is compatible with other printers like the Deskjet 990c. If a driver exists for the Deskjet 990c in your operating system (i.e. you don't need a cd as the 990c is supported in windows) then use this driver instead to see if it works.
Can you please update with the operating system involved and any progress with this alternative driver in your reply.
Regards,
Brian

Re: USB-printers refuse to install on ML115
Thanks! I am setting up Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP2 R2. And I used the XP/2000 drivers. No 2003 drivers available on disk or site. I would have accepted that were it not for the fact that that other printer presents similar problems. So i'll try the other printer you suggested.

Strange the Deskjet 990c is supported for Vista but not for W2k3
