Use sw mirror to migrate to SAN
Howdy,
I would like to know if anyone has used the "add mirror to existing simple volume" approach to move data from one storage to another.
I am looking to move 700GB of file server data from internal RAID array to EVA with the shortest possible amount of downtime.
My thinking was add an EVA disk as a SW mirror to the existing RAID disk. Let the 2 sync over a day or 2 and then split into 2 volumes and mount the EVA disk as the drive letter of the old RAID disk.
I know I can do this with HP-UX and I would get away with it in Linux but I not entirely sure with Windows. Any hints & tips appreciated.
Cheers
Ian

Hope that helps - please click "Thumbs up" for Kudos if it does
