Win2003 not recognize SATA drive

Win2003 does not recognize SATA drive during installation.

My server is ML110 G2 DUAL 80GB SATA HDD and it does not have a floopy disk drive.

Can I also find any SmartStart for HP ML110G2?
Please help. Thanks.

Tanks for your response. But based on the SmartStart matrix, tehre are no versions of SmartStart that support ML110G2.

Re: Win2003 not recognize SATA drive

the drivers must be loaded by pressing F6 at the start of setup. If you don't have a floppy drive, you can try loading the drivers onto a USB drive. I have heard of it being done, but haven't tried it myself. perhaps you can use a floopy drive connected via usb.

Re: Win2003 not recognize SATA drive

if you don't have a floppy, and can't install one, the only option is to add your drivers via to the list of default storage drivers and merge them into the CD.

here is a good tutorial for XP, that holds true to 2003

Re: Win2003 not recognize SATA drive

Thanks you for all responses. You guys are great!
I was able to install a FDD, then downloaded the embedded RAIS controller. During WinK3 installation, it installed the driver, but then still telling me it does not see any hard disk drive.

Do I need to do any thing with BIOS setup and Adactec configuration, create array, etc...?

I have formated both hard disks and the Adatec configuration display the two drives.
Please help.

Re: Win2003 not recognize SATA drive

if you CAN see the drives in the adaptec utility, but CAN NOT see them in the setup select drive window, something is not right with the driver setup.

be certain you hit F6 immediatly after the blue screen pops up, and that you make certain you see the new driver at the bottom of the listing at the end of the device selection.

also check to make certain your not using a IA64 or x86-64 driver for a 32 bit machine, or vice versa

Re: Win2003 not recognize SATA drive

Kane:

The ML110 G2 supports 80GB SATA drives as hot-plug or non hot-plug devices. Each configuration uses different drivers.

Here's the link for the hot-plug SATA configuration (drives are connected to a 6-port SATA controller in a PCI slot):

Here is the link for the embedded SATA controller (on the motherboard) which supports 4 non hot-plug 80GB SATA drives:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/22353.html

Incidentally, they are both Adaptec controllers.

Make a great day!
