Win2003 RC2 install on an ML570
I have an ML570 that I just had Beta 3 on and am attempting to install RC2 on. It gets as far as the 'Setup is starting Windows' and hangs. I have let it go for up to 4 hours to no avail. I have updated the system BIOS and the firmware on the Smart Array 5302-64 controller. Nothing seems to rectify the problem. The hardware tests as functional and I can put a production OS on it.

Re: Win2003 RC2 install on an ML570
Are you using Smart Start 6.10A? My attempt with 6.10 did not work as well, and I am waiting for the SS 6.10A to arrive in the mail.
According to ( http://h18001.www1.hp.com/partners/microsoft/net/support.html ) the release will need the 6.10A Support Pack to install.
Take a read of: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/partners/microsoft/infolib/osintegration/tc021203in.pdf for the white paper on it.
Hope this info helps?

It was supposed to be 6.10A, but was a copy from our TAM. I finally did get a clean copy and that worked.

Re: Win2003 RC2 install on an ML570
We had a beta unit from Compaq and this wouldn't install our customised Windows 2003 build, we even tried just a Select CD. Hangs at "Setup is starting Windows...".
We've been told by HP that the beta unit doesn't work with Windows 2003. They did their testing on a revision N motherboard, but at this point we haven't been told what revision of the motherboard is needed to run Windows 2003. You should be able to get your motherboard replaced by HP if needed, we couldn't as the unit was a beta one.
