Windows 2003 x64 Reboots Continually Following Install of SP2
I have an HP DL385 1st gen running Windows Server 2003 x64 edition. I have had to rebuild it and as soon as i install SP2 as the first update it starts to reboot and continues to do so up to half a dozen times a day.
The error (event id 1003) i'm getting is "Error code 0000000000000050, parameter1 fffffa80016db088, parameter2 0000000000000000, parameter3 fffffadfab046959, parameter4 0000000000000000".
This is closely followed (afer the reboot) by event id 1001 - "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000050.....".
Sending reports to Microsoft results in being told it might be driver related but they don't offer a solution.
I'm stuck. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Windows 2003 x64 Reboots Continually Following Install of SP2
Microsoft introduced new network offloading functionality that is enabled by default in SP2. This means you should install the very newest NIC driver and NCU driver (teaming driver)
Further on the storage side there is an update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932755
(ref the HP drivers link)
However DO NOT use the storport.sys in the 932755 since this actually has problems including bluescreen
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940015
You would think that was the end of it?
No, Microsoft has released yet another fix to storport.sys after SP2:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945119
As noted above you should also get the latest HP storage drivers. PSP includes that, but take care to download the NIC/NCU drivers separately as those are newer than the ones included in the current 7.91 PSP.
Cheers,
Rune
