Solution
Hi,
it depends on the Brocade FABOS version:
a) the newer versions have the
sysshutdown to halt their OS
For nonblade (edge) brocades
it shuts down the OS
For blades (director) brocades
it should be commited from the active CP and then it shuts down the active CP, standby CP and AP blades
After doing this you need to manualy power off the system.
b) the older versions have the command
switchshutdown
the sequence is the following:
shutdown:
1. hosts
2. storages (your XP12k)
3. SAN switches
power on:
1. SAN switches
2. storages (your XP12k)
3. hosts

the pain is one part of the reality

Re: what is the command to shutdown broacade switch? and the sequence?
Hi,
When powering back on, be aware that some Brocade switches can take a *long* time to boot up. Log on to the switch and make sure it has finished its POST before starting up your storage.
Cheers,
Rob
