Another new royal arrival: HPE ProLiant for Microsoft Azure Stack (Gen 10)
By Urs Renggli
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Microsoft are definitely royalty in the IT world. And when they join forces to create joint new IT solutions, the results are keenly awaited and universally acclaimed. That’s definitely the case with the newest offspring of the HPE – Microsoft Alliance: HPE ProLiant for Microsoft Azure Stack (Gen 10).
With its availability announced this week, this new arrival has already taken the world by storm. It is definitely royalty, joining a family of solutions that allow organizations to run Azure-consistent services in their data center. Even more important, they let businesses maintain data sovereignty, run high performance analytics, big data and low-latency applications, support edge and disconnected applications, and deploy applications to either Azure public or private cloud. An amazing lineage, that!
But the true regal excitement is that this solution features HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen 10 servers, bringing impressive and unique new capabilities into the cloud world, including:
- Higher storage capacity, supporting up to 120TB raw capacity per node
- Higher cache capacity, supporting up to 19.2TB of cache per node.
- Higher workload performance, thanks to 66% boost in memory bandwidth and double the memory capacity, plus up to 28 cores and higher clock rates
- Higher networking bandwidth with up to 25GbE, resulting in a 150% increase in networking bandwidth from Gen 9 or other solutions based on 10GbE.
- Reduced Costs thanks to HPE’s storage architecture that delivers an elegantly-balanced ratio of 2:1 capacity devices to SSD Flash devices, making it optimally designed to support Microsoft software-defined storage technology.
- Increased Security checked and guaranteed on 3 levels: Protect, Detect and Recover from attacks. Only HPE offers industry standard servers with major firmware anchored directly into the silicon (HPE Silicon Root of Trust).
Put this regal solution to work for your noble purposes
