Migration to Windows Server 2016 on HPE Gen10 Servers: NOW is the time!
Did you know that the Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 Mainstream Support End Date from Microsoft has passed (01/13/2015)? AND, the End of Extended Support (EoS) by Microsoft will be here before you know it (01/14/2020)!
But, have no fear! We've got a great solution for customers who are still running Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2โฆ migrate to the latest (and, in our opinion greatest) Microsoft Windows Server Operating System (OS) on the latest (again, in our opinion, greatest) serversโฆ Microsoft Windows Server 2016 on HPE Gen10 Servers!
Microsoft Windows Server 2016 + HPE Gen10 Servers
For customers still running Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2 (and even 2012 and 2012 R2) migrating to Windows Server 2016 on HPE Gen10 Servers can offer many new and advanced features and functionalities. Today we will learn how Windows Server 2016 and Gen10 can help customers: increase security and reduce business risk, evolve their data center to save money and gain flexibility, and innovate faster.
Increase Security: You have probably heard, HPE Gen10 Servers are the most secure Industry Standard Servers in the world, offering unique security features, down to the silicon. Did you also know that Windows Server 2016 includes built-in breach resistance to help customers prevent attacks and meet compliance goals? These include (but are not limited to): a new privileged identity management feature, a unique Shielded Virtual Machine feature, Hyper-V isolation for a unique layer of isolation, and additional security features to protect against unknown vulnerabilities.

Evolve the Data Center: Every day, businesses are expected to do more with less, but an aging infrastructure, such as those running on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with little automation, becomes a major hindrance to moving forward. As organizations look beyond server virtualization for more efficiency, they can use Windows Server 2016 and Gen10 capabilities to meet operational challenges, freeing up IT resources to plan and innovate on future solutions to drive business success. HPE and Microsoft have partnered together to deliver fully tested and validated HPE Windows Server 2016 Software-Defined Datacenter (WSSD) solutions. In addition, Windows Server 2016 offers several features that were not available in previous versions such as: Cluster OS Rolling Upgrade, Storage Spaces Direct, Storage Replica, and Site-Aware Failover Clusters.

Innovate faster: Windows Server 2016 delivers new ways for customers to deploy and run applications using capabilities such as Windows Server containers and Nano Server as the container image. Although Windows Server 2016 is inspired by the cloud, it is built to work with whatever infrastructure customers have. If/when your customers decide to move some, or all, of their workloads, it is a seamless process. Windows Server 2016 should be the foundation for their hybrid environment with HPE Gen10 Servers. Windows Server 2016 features such as Windows Server Containers and Hyper-V isolation were not available in previous versions such as Windows Server 2008/R2 or 2012/R2 and can greatly benefit your customersโ IT infrastructures.
