Empowering Innovation: An Insightful conversation with Upasana Malhotra, Project Manager
Since the beginning, HPE has advanced the way people live and work by creating innovative technology at the heart of successful organizations and communities all over the world. We invite you inside our careers and culture through stories of the people who power HPE—our team members.
Every journey is different, and empowering people in their careers is an essential part of who we are – and how we work together to achieve great things. In this interview, Upasana Malhotra shares her experiences and insights on her role, her career growth, and the vibrant culture at HPE.
Upasana started her career with HPE in 2017 as a Technical Solutions Consultant. Through HPE’s internal mobility program, she transitioned to a project management role to pursue her interests. Upasana is also a DEI ambassador in India, playing an active role in fostering employee engagement with both technical and fun activities. She accelerates and enables HPE’s culture to partner, innovate and act. Additionally, she is the co-chair of the Global Women’s Network (resource group), helping women grow in leadership and technical roles.
Team member straight talk
Q: How would you describe what you do as a technical project manager?
A: As a project manager, I oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects. I define project goals, create timelines, allocate resources, and manage budgets. My role involves coordinating team members, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. Together with the project team, we address any issues or risks that arise, make strategic decisions, and ensure the project meets quality standards and objectives. Ultimately, the goal is to deliver successful projects that align with HPE's goals and client expectations.
Q: How do you redefine what’s next in your career?
A: Professionally my goal is to lead high-impact initiatives at HPE, contributing to strategic growth. Currently, as a technical project manager, my next step is to spearhead transformative projects by leveraging advanced technologies and agile methodologies. Personally, I always focused on my own traits like my communication style, adaptability, influence, teamwork, and fostering leadership qualities that align with the organizational culture, driving success and a sense of fulfilment.
