Harriet de Morton solves unique customer challenges with insights, experience, & expertise
Since the beginning, HPE has advanced the way people live and work by creating innovative technology at the heart of successful organizations and communities all over the world. We invite you inside our careers and culture through stories of the people who power HPE—our team members.
Today, we’re hearing from Harriet de Morton, Business Development Manager, who has worked at HPE for three years and built a career supporting our Edge sales operations. Our company culture has afforded her opportunities to grow and balance her life as a professional, parent, and active member of the community.
Harriet’s HPE career journey
Harriet came to HPE after many years working in the IT industry supporting enterprise clients and Channel partners. Her in-depth knowledge of complex sales to large corporations got her foot in the door; but her understanding of the Middle East region and IT environment landed her the job as a Business Development Manager. Harriet spends a fair amount of time on the road, meeting with prospective customers and partners introducing them to HPE Aruba Networking offerings.
When she’s not traveling, Harriet spends time with her young family and supports her community. The culture at HPE has enabled her to build a successful career where she’s constantly learning while also taking advantage of the flexibility to balance work and life to raise her children. Our hybrid ways of working have also afforded her opportunities to build strong relationships with other HPE teams involved in the sales process.
Team member straight talk
Q: What is the most important aspect of your work?
A: Building relationships is crucial to successfully develop customer relationships but it’s also important to be an expert in the products and services we offer. I must have a solid understanding of technology and how our solutions can solve customer challenges.
Q: How do you redefine what’s next in your career?
A: Customers recognize HPE as a leader when it comes to SASE and I am most excited about taking market share from the competition. But I can’t do that effectively if I’m not learning every day. Technology changes quickly so it’s important to keep up with what’s new and understand how we can use it to help our customers.
Q: What makes HPE a great place to work?
A: Things don’t always go as planned. We’re afforded opportunities to try new things; sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. I am able to learn from my mistakes without repercussions, so I feel safe in taking risks.
Ready to redefine what’s next for you? With industry-leading training, development, and cross-functional learning opportunities, you could potentially explore multiple careers without ever leaving the impactful, mission-driven work and people at HPE.
