I was amazed when I heard that she is actually a career veteran in the supply chain domain role, which she evolved into over the course of a 20 year glowing journey. What stood out to me was the earnestness in her personality, the willingness to observe and learn which, I am sure will enable her to achieve even greater prospects in her ever-developing career. Celebrating another successful climb!Celebrating another successful climb!

At HPE, we have the opportunity to try new things, without fear of failure.

Hello, my name is Rina Yugeta, and I am part of HPE Pointnext in the Supply Chain division in Japan.

I started working as a contract employee for HPE, almost 20 years ago. To begin with, I was assigned as a spare-part planner in supply chain. For 9 long years, I persevered and made sure that whatever I do, even the smallest of tasks, I did a responsible job without any errors.

At the same time, I was keen to expand my potential with every opportunity I got. I was extremely keen to be an employee, instead of a contractor and hence, I left no stone unturned to prove my capabilities and dedication in my work.

As the company solidified after its first major change, that of the merger of HP and Compaq, I finally had the chance to become an employee in 2010. And surely, it opened a wide door of possibilities for me. The range of my work expanded more than ever, and I was able to take on more diverse projects and challenges.

It also put me right in the middle of the rich culture at HPE, the company which aims to always empower its employees. In 2014, I participated in a project planned by HR to experience an overseas office and was able to go to the Global ITO Delivery Centre in Cyberjaya, Malaysia for two weeks.

Project Astronaut was an eye-opener for me. I understood, first-hand, the depth of inclusiveness and diversity within HPE and the level of advocacy and commitment for it. It was very inspiring to be able to experience working on-site at the overseas office. While I got to understand a great many things, including IT organization, IT outsourcing process and engage in multiple sessions, workshops and other team activities, I also got some handy tips and insights from our counterparts in Malaysia to apply to our ways of working. We learnt how the GOC handles the Japanese customers and the cultural gap and utilize it in our work. A truly global experience to be a part of!

One thing I feel really connected to at HPE is the Open-Door Policy, which is rooted in every single employee here. Once, when introducing a new part handling event system, SFDC, I was entrusted with leading the Supply Chain unit. I was nervous as it was a big challenge for me, but I got a lot of confidence from my manager. She was available for handling my doubts and constantly encouraged me. I was able to smoothly navigate the task with her ample support.

Being a female in this competitive industry, I understand the value of supportive leadership and peers. It feels great to be part of a culture, in which diverse perspectives are respected. We understand that we are all integral cogs keeping this well-oiled machinery going, and every role is important, no matter how small the cog is! Moreover, HPE is making a conscious effort to develop women's careers. This year, I joined the female development program. Through multiple training sessions on soft skills and personal branding, I understood that we all need to instil a spirit of believing in action without fear of failure. I was able to understand what I needed to develop my career path.

Learning all this also enthuses me to give back to the female talent in this company and industry.  They need nurturing and adequate backing to ensure that their career paths can be made as smooth as possible, where all they need to prove themselves is just hard work and talent! To support this, I recently joined the business leadership coaching project for females at HPE Japan, where I got to meet female employees from other companies as well, and I was able to deepen my understanding of supporting the success of women in the workplace.

The people at HPE demonstrate a high degree of integrity and collaboration in day-to-day work life. It makes every day a rewarding experience. There is a constant focus on questioning the status quo and looking for avenues of improvement. This is a wheel, stoked by curiosity and striving towards perfection, which everyone keeps moving at all times. The Japan Pointnext business runs a Best Practice event once a year, allowing all of us to share the performance of our team. Access to such learning experiences and development activities have played an immense role in my growth as a professional.

Working to promote the awesome culture at this company, I got a chance to manage and curate various events, from inviting executives to share their experiences with the employees, to conducting leader interviews where they speak about their experiences and all things HPE!

If you love what you do and your team is like your work family, then each day brings a feeling of satisfaction and pure joy with it. Even during the trying times of the pandemic, the company responded quickly and adapted to give its employees a comfortable and flexible remote work environment. The power of a team that stands behind you at all times is greatly underestimated!

I love the professional I have evolved into. And HPE has played a pivotal role in shaping the individual I am today. I am thankful to HPE for continually believing in me and giving me opportunities at the right times in my career allowing me to convert them into milestones.

This has been a journey to cherish. Many more to come!
