Today during HPE Discover in Las Vegas, the company announced it was launching a cloud-based environment for the Labs-created Machine project. It also announced the launch of a new capabilities area devoted to bringing Memory-Driven computing to its clients

The Memory-Driven Computing Sandbox, as the environment is called, will feature the HPE Superdome Flex server with Software-Defined Scalable Memory. This innovation includes new software and firmware advances that enable the industry-leading Superdome Flex memory fabric to address significantly larger pools of shared memory than previously possible. The technology provides the ability to compose memory on the fabric and offers the ability to scale to 96 terabytes, all while offering faster and more resilient performance.

According to the announcement, "Through a collaboration between HPE Pointnext, Hewlett Packard Labs and HPE’s own Global IT organization, HPE is introducing a Memory-Driven Computing operating and development environment for customers and developers around the world."

The new capabilities area belongs to the company's consulting arm, HPE Pointnext. This practice, described in the announcement as "an incubation (area) with specialized skills for solving big data problems through Memory-Driven Computing" will extend the technological innovations that have gone into developing The Machine prototype into client business and technology.

The practice's first client is Travelport, a commerce platform that provides distribution, technology, and payment solutions for the $7 trillion global travel industry.
