HPE Foundation awards $200,000 to employee-nominated nonprofits
OneJustice ODJ, HPE
What makes HPE's culture thrive? Employees working together as a team, embracing the differences of all to achieve a common goal that benefits our customers and our communities. An example is The HPE Foundation.
The HPE Foundation encourages employees to come together to support the local communities where HPE lives and works. Through the HPE Gives employee-nominated grants program, Community Impact Grants, HPE employees have the opportunity to nominate local nonprofit organizations they are engaged with to receive funding that will help drive community-wide impact.
MS Care Center HPEHPE employees submitted over 200 nominations for worthy organizations, validating what we have always known โ that the drive to contribute to society runs deep among our employees. We are proud to announce the first recipients who together will receive over $200,000 USD in cash grants from the HPE Foundation. The 14 selected nonprofits from across the globe will receive grants to support programs that range from engaging students in STEM to creating more inclusive local communities.
โHPE has always been proud of the civic engagement and charitable efforts of its employees,โ said Gregg Melinson, President & Executive Director of the HPE Foundation. โThese grants are an important way for the Foundation to support our employees, drive our company values, and ultimately strengthen our local communities.โ
When awarding the grants, the HPE Foundation considered how HPE employee teams have meaningfully engaged with the nominated organization and the resulting impact of the funding. For instance, some 50 members of HPEโs Office of the General Counsel have contributed pro bono legal aid to OneJusticeโs Rural Justice Initiative, providing life-changing legal help to low-income, rural Californians. According to Amelia Hansen, HPE employee and board member at OneJustice, โin the stateโs rural communities, there are simply not enough attorneys and legal nonprofits to assist all those in need. This grant will ensure the delivery of dozens of legal clinics to help low-income people solve their legal issues, including housing, immigration, criminal record clearance, end of life planning, and economic benefits for veteransโ.
HPE Irelandโs charity of the year, Multiple Sclerosis Ireland, has been awarded a grant to support the Dublin care center where approximately 40 HPE employees contribute their time and resources. The grant will support the urgent renovation of the center, which provides respite care for over 500 people living with MS, and their families, from all over Ireland.
Touched Romania
โThis is probably the best email Iโve received this year,โ wrote HPE employee Andreea Darie after receiving grant approval for Touched Romania, where HPEโs Credit & Collections team organizes volunteering events throughout the year to care for abandoned newborns.
These grants are a testament to the great work that these organizations do, as well as the demonstrated commitment by HPE employees to contribute to their success. We are proud of our employeesโ contributions and of the deserving organizations that they support.
Congratulations to all of our first round grant recipients:
