Innovation Quest 2022 - Empowering Team Members to Solve for the Future

At HPE, we believe in accelerating what’s next, and driving industry-leading innovation has always been in our DNA. Innovation happens when team members are relentlessly curious and unafraid to bring bold new ideas to the table.

In February 2021, we launched the Innovation Quest, an opportunity for team members to submit their boldest, most innovative ideas to help accelerate what’s next for HPE. Based upon those learnings and successes, Innovation Quest 2022 launched with new categories focused on our cultural belief to “obsess over the customer.”

Those new categories include data value creation and analytics, sustainability, and cyber resiliency, hoping to solve some of our customers’ top challenges.

Picking the top ideas:

Nearly 250 ideas were submitted by our innovative team members. After a thorough analysis of each idea by a group of senior leaders followed by careful deliberation of the 15 finalists by our CEO, Antonio Neri, and the Executive Committee—the final 4 were selected.  

Category: Data value creation and analytics

Winning idea: Sustainability (Carbon Reduction) Impact for all GreenLake Proposals: Aide each customer in measuring how their IT technology may be impacting Carbon emissions.

Winning team:  David Lappin, Jay Dorman, Maud Samagalski, Melissa Spannuth, and Steve Hillsman.

Category: Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG)

Winning idea: GreenLake Workload Migration as a Service: To accelerate HPE GreenLake private cloud adoption by creating a migration services ecosystem inclusive of partners.

Winning team:  Aravind Umasankar, Arun David, Divakar Kanakarajan, Nachiketh Kodamkri and Yuvaraja A.

Category: Cyber resiliency

Winning idea: Adaptive DDoS Protection: Proposing a modern, data-driven, and automated model to combat cyberattack exposure.

Winning team:  Kranthi Damarla, Ravikumar Govindarao, Rupak Sahu, Sriharsha Srinivas, and Vishwanath Badiger.

Category: Cyber resiliency (second winning idea)

Winning idea: Quick Network Recovery: a cost-effective solution using off-the-shelf components, restoring internet service during emergency scenarios, or establishing new service in remote locations in short order.

Winning team: Tino Zottola and Christophe Guillemin.

What’s next:

Winners will refine their ideas and build an implementation plan. They’ll receive support from HPE sponsors and subject matter experts during a virtual Incubation Forum and beyond.

Programs like Innovation Quest are just one of many ways Hewlett Packard Enterprise encourages its team members to collaborate, dream, and drive solutions on a global scale.
