"HPE is Home" by Lindsay Geiger
As a senior in college, I knew that utilizing my teaching degree was not the direction that I saw my life headed but graduated and took some time searching for jobs in order to find what would be the best fit for me. I came across a job at HP as an Executive Assistant and interviewed with high hopes and low expectations. However, little did I know this would be my foot in the door to a wonderful company where I would jumpstart my career.
For the first three years, I worked as an Executive Assistant before moving into an IT Business Consultant role. Admittedly, I did not know what I was getting myself into as I lacked any IT experience, but I was excited about the challenge. I learned more about myself as each day at HP/HPE is an experience full of incredible training that does not exist elsewhere. I was able to take this opportunity to acquire significant industry experience.
After my stint as a Consultant, I transitioned into a new role as a Technology Business Management Analyst. This role continuously offered new skills and insight into the inner workings of a highly successful global IT organization
As of recent, I started in my dream role on the newly created communications and engagement team. In this role, I can fully utilize my creative side to effectively communicate internally within HPE. A bonus of this position is that I am afforded the ability to work with employees on all levels including members of the executive team. This opportunity has allowed me to learn from some of the best in the industry.
HPE is very special to me as the support provided by management is truly second to none. During my tenure, I have experienced a couple of company reorganizations that resulted in job eliminations for my team. Almost immediately, a manager with whom I had previously worked, hired me into his department. Because of this, HPE is has developed into a work family and I am so thankful for that.
HPE genuinely cares for all of its employees particularly when it comes to the ever-evolving subject of work/life balance. HPE is a huge advocate of the proper work/life balance and I take full advantage of that. As the Co-President of the Roseville Employee Program, I plan employee engagement events, head up the committee that provides financial advice to other HPE sanctioned clubs, work to give back to the community, and to improve employee facilities. My favorite aspect of this position is the fact that I am instrumental in planning the employee engagement events such as our annual โFamily Night Outโ at the Sacramento River Cats game, Oktoberfest, multiple holiday events, and Open Houses to promote clubs on campus.
What I love most about HPE is the investment in the employees. I came here not knowing what my future held, or what I wanted to do and this company has provided endless opportunities and amazing leaders. Although I love spending quality time with my dogs while in quarantine, I am excited to get back into the office to work with my work family.
