What are Latina Emprendedora?
Local anchor from Univision - Keynote Speaker for the 2nd annual Latina Emprendedora Conference on October 20th in Silicon Valley
HPE Juntos employee resource group partnered with HITEC (Hispanic IT Executive Council) and Yacanex to hold our 2nd annual Latina Emprendedoras event on Saturday, October 20th.
HPE leader and HITEC EEP program participant, Carlos Quezada, hosted and organized the event.
Carlos Quezada, HPE leader and a graduate of HITEC Emerging Executive Program (EEP) hosted and organized the 2nd annual conference. The goals of the event were:
- Motivate and inspire Latina women to start a business
- Create a supportive community of like-minded women
Carlos Quezada, Director Services PLM & Business Operations at Aruba Networks, an HPE Company
Eleven interactive sessions were held throughout the day. The sessions covered a number of topics including best practices, how to create a business plan, and lessons learned.
Conference participants
The keynote speaker was Alejandra Arce, the local Univision television anchor.
Some of the speakers included:
- Mexican General Consul who shared support for women and their endeavors
- Office of Immigrant Affairs - City of San Jose
This year over 80 women participated in the event, more than doubling the amount that attended the first year the program launched. Feedback was extremely positive and there are some great ideas in place for planning the event next year.
Listening intently to a speaker at the conference.
We can't wait to see the impact the lessons learned have and the difference each of our participants makes in our community. So very proud of Carlos, Juntos ERG and our community partners for finding a way to impact our future today.
