Why HPE Feels Like Home – Li-Na Tian’s 18-Year HPE Careers Journey
I’m Li-na Tian, part of the HPE Operations Global Support Remote Dalian Hub Ops team, based in Dalian, China. This year marks my 18th anniversary at HPE, and looking back, I can’t help but be amazed at how much this company has shaped me—both professionally and personally.
I started my career at HPE fresh out of college as a mission-critical engineer. In this role, every second mattered. We worked closely with customers, constantly refining operations to exceed expectations. That early experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for HPE’s customer-centric culture—something that still drives me today.
Four years later, I transitioned to an administrative role, supporting the centre director and leadership team. For three years, I had a front-row seat to leadership in action—watching how decisions were made, strategies optimized, and how the team never lost sight of two things: putting customers first and investing in employees. It was a masterclass in leadership and an embodiment of what makes HPE special.
Through the years, HPE’s commitment to creating a supportive environment has allowed me to thrive—not just in my career but also in my personal passions. Whether it’s playing music to express my creativity or practicing pilates to maintain my well-being, I truly appreciate the work-life balance that HPE encourages. Being part of a company that prioritizes growth, and development has empowered me to take on greater responsibilities and build meaningful connections across the organization. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about individual achievements—it’s about sharing knowledge, supporting peers, and embracing new opportunities with confidence.
In recent years, I’ve taken on the role of Remote APAC & Dalian Hub Communications Lead. My focus? Building a strong, connected, and inclusive community by working across teams and functions. I’m passionate about fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. My job isn’t rocket science, but I give it my all because I love what I do. That’s the HPE way—bringing our best to everything we take on.
To young talent, my advice is simple: Speak up, build meaningful connections, and prioritize balance—your growth at HPE is what you make of it.
Looking back on this journey, I can easily say that HPE isn’t just a workplace—it’s a community that challenges, supports, and inspires. If you’re looking for an environment where you can thrive, grow, and truly make an impact, HPE is the place to be.
