Azure Landing Zones – Enterprise Enrollment
In part 1 of this series of blog articles, I wrote about Introduction to Azure Landing Zones and explained that an Azure Landing Zone encompasses several critical design areas. Enterprise Enrollment is the first of those eight critical design areas. Enterprise Enrollment is a comprehensive licensing agreement specifically designed for large organisations and is one of several other Azure licensing agreements available. It offers a unified platform for managing cloud services, optimising costs, and enhancing security.
With flexible billing options and centralised governance, it empowers enterprises to scale their cloud infrastructure efficiently, while maximising value from Microsoft Azure. With its extensive array of features and benefits, Enterprise Enrollment transforms how large organisations harness the power of the cloud.
Other licensing options include the following:
Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG): This flexible, pay-per-use option is suitable for small to medium-sized businesses and individuals. Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA): This modern, non-expiring licensing agreement provides a unified purchasing experience for Azure services. Microsoft Partner Agreement (MPA): This is designed for partners reselling Microsoft services and offers similar benefits as the MCA. Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Program: This enables partners like HPE to resell Microsoft Cloud Services along with their offerings, providing a more comprehensive solution to customers. Azure Dev Tools for Teaching (formerly MSDN): This is tailored for educational institutions, providing access to Azure services for teaching, learning, and research. Azure Government: This is designed specifically for U.S. government agencies and their partners, providing a dedicated cloud environment to meet specific compliance and security requirements.
Overview of Enterprise Enrollment
Enterprise Enrollment incorporates the process of enrolling or registering individuals or entities into an organisation's usage of Microsoft Azure. It helps establish a hierarchical structure within the organisation, delineating departments, accounts, and subscriptions, providing for the effective management and organisation of resources and is foundational for governance. The following further describes these three key elements:
Enterprise Enrollment Hierarchy
When setting up departments and accounts in Azure, organisations often consider different methodologies based on functional, business unit, or geographic criteria. Here are examples of typical setup methodologies for each of those approaches:

As a continuation, here is the final example of a typical setup methodology, the Geographic approach:

Design Considerations
Design considerations are the specific topics which need to be investigated, decided, and documented for the design area to be considered closed from a Azue Landing Zone perspective. For enterprise enrollment, the following table captures the major considerations.

Summary
Azure Enterprise Enrollment offers large organisations a unified platform for cloud service management. It optimises costs, enhances security, and enables centralised governance. With flexible billing options, it facilitates efficient scaling of cloud infrastructure, maximising value from Azure services.
