It’s real! SAP S/4HANA digital transformation in manufacturing

In just about every industry today, digital transformation is essential to success. That is especially true in manufacturing with the critical need to increase efficiency and availability, while deriving intelligence that reduces time to actionable insight from data across the value chain.

For the manufacturing industry, digital transformation has moved from a “priority to an imperative”, resulting in better business outcomes, better data governance, and better data synergies, insights, and compliance.
It brings better efficiency from flattened silos, less quality related delays, and enhanced production. Finally, it brings better OpEx as the staff scales less linearly with increased production output.

Real-life digital transformation
I’d like to share a digital transformation story starring Hilti Corporation, a multinational manufacturer of tools and solutions for the construction industry. Partnering with HPE and SAP, Hilti found great success as an early adopter of SAP S/4HANA digital transformation in manufacturing.

Hilti, HPE, and SAP have conducted a successful SAP S/4HANA migration and digital transformation, spanning business processes, production, and customer and employee engagement. And they did it without disrupting existing operations.

The result? By eliminating communications and data silos, Hilti has aligned IT to business strategy and processes while bringing to bear predictive analytics and simulations to derive business value from their value-chain data.

Lessons learned and shared
I look at the Hilti transformation as a model for the 60% of the SAP 40,000-customer install base needing to migrate to S/4HANA by 2025 in the face of a changing manufacturing landscape and the effects of COVID-19.

There are many lessons to be learned from the Hilti achievement and we’re going to explore them in an HPE Roundtable webcast with an expert panel from Hilti, SAP, and HPE on:

I want to take a moment to introduce the panelists who will bring their deep expertise and insights to the Roundtable.

• Christoph Baeck, Head of IT Infrastructure, Hilti Corporation
• Ed Faichtyger, Global SAP Practice Principal, HPE
• Georg Kube, Global Vice President Industrial Machinery & Components, SAP

The session will be moderated by Tom Bradicich, PhD, VP and Hewlett Packard Fellow, Manufacturing and Edge Solutions, HPE.

This high-powered panel will go into detail about aligning IT to business strategy and processes and implementing predictive analytics and simulations to derive business value.
They’ll also discuss the secrets of how to pull off an SAP S/4HANA migration and digital transformation without disrupting existing operations. I can’t wait to hear that!

The cloud that comes to you
Any company with the need to migrate SAP manufacturing applications to SAP HANA/S4HANA should take a look at doing it as a service with HPE GreenLake.

HPE GreenLake is the business-oriented, pay-per-use route to consumption-based billing, remote monitoring, and active capacity management—all with no capital outlay. We call it the cloud that comes to you.

Today you can keep your most demanding workloads in your environment with pay-as-you-go pricing. HPE GreenLake enables SAP to provide the customer edition of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud with a consistent, automated cloud experience and their flexible subscription-based, as-a-service model.

For a deeper dive, take a look at this HPE webinar replay to learn from top experts about what it takes to run SAP S/4HANA in your own environment and how to get SAP in a consumption model with HPE GreenLake.

I’ll close with a final invitation to the Hilti, HPE, and SAP Roundtable on February 17 at 11 a.m. ET.

I sincerely hope you’ll be able to join us. Register here.
