Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 License and 2008 R2 Downgrade End of Life (EOL) Reminders
We wanted to take a moment to remind you of important upcoming End of Life (EOL) dates for the following Microsoft Windows Server OEM products:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 for Foundation, Essentials, Standard, and Datacenter editions
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Additional Licenses for Standard and Datacenter editions
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012 RDS User and Device Client Access Licenses (CALs)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Downgrades for Enterprise, Standard, and Datacenter editions. **Please note: Windows Server 2008 R2 Downgrades provided through the HPE Windows Server Media and Downgrades fulfillment website will also follow the same dates).
HPE OEM Microsoft Windows Server part numbers for the above products have been set with the following EOL dates:
- Discontinue: 10/31/2017
- Obsolete: 11/30/2017
What do these dates mean for you and your clients?
The last day for HPE to ship any of these products will be October 31, 2017. However, units that have already been distributed from HPE to a partner, the partner may continue selling the inventory they own.
Planning a future with Windows Server
This is a great time to start talking to customers about their future plans. Microsoft Windows Server 2016 was introduced last year and is a great option for customers of all sizes. With the newest version of Windows Server, customers can increase security, evolve their datacenter, and innovate faster.
The Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Microsoft partnership combines technologies to help businesses reach their full potential and operate with increased agility. And, pairing HPE Windows Server Reseller Option Kit (ROK) licensing with HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers gives customers, and you—our valued partners—even greater benefits.
