See what’s next for Azure Hybrid Cloud solutions at HPE Discover 2024

The HPE Discover 2024 event is scheduled to take place once again in Las Vegas, showcasing the latest advances in enterprise technology, providing insights into emerging trends, and providing a platform for networking and industry collaboration. An exciting aspect of the show will be the presence of Microsoft, and the promotion of shared HPE-Microsoft solutions, particularly those for data storage that enable mission critical and cloud-scale customer deployments for hybrid cloud, collaboration, analytics and now AI.

See what’s next in IT at HPE Discover 2024

HPE Discover has been a venue for what’s new in information technology, and this year maybe even more so, with the keynote taking place inside of one of the newest hot spots on the Strip: HPE CEO Antonio Neri will share the stage with NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang to deliver the keynote talk at the Sphere! You’ve probably heard about it – it’s one of the most unique music and entertainment arenas on the planet, with the world’s highest resolution LED screen, immersive sound, and it’s shaped like, you guessed it, a sphere.

The Discover event happens June 18-20 at the Venetian Convention and Expo Center. Attendees will have over 500 sessions to choose from, with opportunities for professional networking, and the chance to complete hands-on technical training.

Keeping your eyes on the ball with Microsoft at HPE Discover 2024

Microsoft is a top-level, “Emerald” sponsor again this year, reflecting the strong partnership between the two tech giants. Microsoft will deliver three event sessions and have a sizable booth on the show floor. HPE team members, including the Hybrid Cloud solutions team, collaborated with Microsoft on the event. Highlights of their presence include…

  • Microsoft AI and Fabric session – Bob Ward from Microsoft, the respected author, speaker, principal architect of SQL Server and now a recognized authority on Azure SQL, will be joined by Alan Kerr also from Microsoft on a much-anticipated breakout. They will share info and run demos, featuring the capabilities of the new Microsoft Fabric. Microsoft Fabric is a SaaS platform combining important capabilities such as PowerBI, into a single offering for seamless data integration, storage, and analytics that can be used with data from SQL Server, whether in the cloud or on-prem. They’ll cover AI with Fabric and Copilot experiences, and this is the session where we expect to have mentions around HPE-enabled hybrid cloud analytics with both structured and unstructured data repositories.
  • Infrastructure refresh to Microsoft session – With most companies around the world reconsidering how best to manage virtualized workloads, this is a timely session. It addresses the opportunity to modernize legacy workloads, with two key pathways being Azure Stack HCI and Windows Server. In fact our HPE Hybrid Cloud solutions enable both these areas, with work underway in further removing the friction of going from VMware VMs to Hyper-V. Learn about these refresh options and how the right infrastructure will enable secure, fast, efficient, and scalable solutions.
  • Booth and theatre – Microsoft has a large 30’x40’ presence on the showcase floor, with meeting space and an in-booth theatre. Managed in part by HPE, we’re planning a broad and insightful schedule of product team-delivered sessions and demos of Azure Stack HCI, Arc-enabled SQL Server, and other Azure hybrid cloud solutions.

Round up of Hybrid Cloud Solution news at Discover

There will be a lot of news, happenings and events taking place around Discover, but here are a few top items that highlight recent accomplishments in the area of shared Microsoft and HPE Hybrid Cloud and storage solutions:

  • Azure Arc-enabled SQL Server 2022 on HPE Storage – This solution is a result of some of our most recent lab work involving SQL Server, in search of new more efficient ways to connect on-prem instances to the Azure cloud. We expect this topic will be a big part of the previously mentioned Bob Ward session. Here are a couple resources to enable a deeper dive on the topic: Solution team blog and a detailed ‘how-to’ deployment guide.
  • Azure Stack HCI on the HPE Storage Server 4110 – We rolled out this solution since the last Discover event, and with it a number of supporting resources, guides and related integrations. An especially interesting one is the Windows Admin Center (WAC) extension for Azure Stack HCI demo video, delivered by our solution engineer, showing the before-and-after value of using the new Server Extension for resource management. It’s out there on youtube. Other related resources include a new configuration guide, and updated solution brief and an HPE Alletra Storge Server 4110 unboxing video on youtube.
  • Exchange on HPE Alletra Storage Server 4000 – We just updated this solution for the new HPE Alletra Storage Server 4000 line which provides a highly scalable, yet performant platform for enterprise email.  It’s already become a huge hit with global banks and other large orgs, and I expect to see all our other enterprise and large public sector customers updating their on-prem email with this solution. Resources to check out include the  annoncement blog, the new deployment guide  and a related success story on a satisfied Exchange customer.
  • HPE Storage Unified PowerShell Toolkit – Customers, especially larger ones, really value ways to automate their IT environment, so our PowerShell toolkits have been invaluable for years. We recently combined separate storage product-specific toolkits into a single download that provides a uniform, improved user experience. The new HPE Storage Unified PowerShell Toolkit was recently published to Github.
